ABSTRACT The recent development of simple and analytical equations of state, both empirical and theoretical, is presented in terms of the form of the equations, temperature functions for the attractive parameters, applicability of these equations to saturated property calculations, and mixing rules. Evaluations are made for selection and application of these equations to the calculations of vapour-liquid equilibrium and saturated properties of molecular fluids and their mixtures. A number of general recommendations are also presented.
