ABSTRACT The corrosion kinetic of the IN-657 superalloy is studied by electrochemical methods (continuous current), in contact with eutectic melt 60% V2O5 - 40% Na2SO4 (molar ratio) with different carbon contents. It is suggested new ideas about the corrosion mechanisms of hot corrosion, using X-ray difraction test, the CET (Chemical Equilibrium Thermodynamic Code develop by NASA-Lewis Research Center) simulating chemical reactions between IN-657 superalloys and the molten salts studied.
