ABSTRACT

Refractroy compounds - borides, carbides, and silicides of the refractory metals - can be electroplated onto metal substrates from molten salts to protect them from wear and corrosion. The advantages of this method are described. Recent progress in the electrochemistry and chemistry of molten salt electroplating is discussed.
