ABSTRACT

A discussion of theoretical basis for insect phenology models is provided. The role of temperature in regulating insect development is reviewed. The theory behind linear, nonlinear, exponential and other types of modelling efforts is analyzed. A large volume of literature exists on the modelling of poikilotherm development; only most pertinent data are discussed in this paper.
