ABSTRACT The existing data of critical heat flux (CHF) on a disk heater cooled by a liquid impinging jet have been analyzed, and the characteristics of the CHF can be divided into four regimes. Generalized equations for each regime are derived, correlating the CHF data well for a wide experimental range of density ratio of ρ1/ρv = 5.3 to 1603 and diameter ratio of D/d = 5 to 57.1. One of the generalized correlations for the single jet can be applied to predict the CHF for multiple jets with an accuracy of + 20 %, in spite of a great difference in the flow sitϋation on a disk between single jet and multiple jets within the same experimental range.
