ABSTRACT The application of pulsed electrochemical detection (PED) for the analysis of aminoglycoside antibiotics by liquid chromatography (LC) was investigated. It was found that the use of PED is more complicated than this of conventional UV detectors. To make the detection technique more accessible, a theoretical part is followed by some practical considerations based on our experience. LC in combination with PED was applied successfully to the analysis of neomycin, kanamycin, amikacin, tobramycin, gentamicin, netilmicin and spectinomycin.
