ABSTRACT The results of studies of a novel series of polymer electrolytes based on the poly(trimethylenecarbonate) or p(TMC) host network are reviewed in this paper. Electrolytes based on various lithium salts have been prepared by casting from homogeneous solvent-salt-polymer solutions. The thin amorphous transparent polymer films formed were found to support encouraging levels or ionic conductivity, show excellent mechanical and good thermal stability. These polymer electrolytes may be used as components of all-solid-state devices such as electrochemical displays, smart windows or advanced batteries.
