ABSTRACT By means of column (CC), thin-layer (TLC), high-performance liquid (HPLC) and ion exchange chromatography (IEC), the authors investigated the photosynthesizing pigments (chlorophylls, carotenoids, phycobiliproteins) and phytochromes in the thallus of Nephroma arcticum from biotopes in the North. Three groups of pigments absorbing rays of PAR beams from the environment are present in thallus of Nephroma arcticum. Chromatic adaptation can exist in the conditions of the Arctic and it is characterized by relatively poor solar energy.
