ABSTRACT For each of N5O-, N8O2, N6O3 and N8, increased-valence structures, which involve electronic hypervalence, are constructed from canonical Lewis valence bond structures via 1-electron delocalisations from doubly-occupied atomic orbitals into 2-centre bonding molecular orbitals. Each of the resulting valence bond structures possesses one bonding electron and two “non-bonding” electrons.
