ABSTRACT In analytical and clinical toxicology, the last decade has seen a significant increase in the use of mass spectrometry (MS) technologies, which have revolutionized analytical methodologies. This study conducted a bibliometric analysis on the application of chemical methods in analytical toxicology, with the aim of identifying publication trends, key topics, collaborations and future opportunities. The bibliometric data were collected from the Scopus database covering the period from 2016 to 2025. 482 articles were selected and a precise and iterative search strategy was used to retrieve the relevant articles while excluding unrelated disciplines, such as agriculture, ecology and food analysis; after data processing 300 articles were included in the analysis. This has made it possible to maintain the focus on chemometric applications specific to analytical toxicology. This bibliometric analysis, carried out using Bibliometrix and VOSviewer, explores research trends, collaborations and methodologiesin the field of analytical toxicology. The results indicate a significant increase in the number of publications since 2017 and 2021, followed by a fluctuation between 2022 and 2025. The majority of publications were sponsored primarily by the United States, China, Italy, and Germany. Regarding international collaborations, the United States stands out with the highest number of such partnerships, indicating strong collaborative research activities. Italy, China, and Japan demonstrate significant activity in transnational publications. This study highlights their contributions and provides further analysis of their collaborative efforts. Valuable information on the predominant substances, methodologies and research themes in analytical toxicology, while highlighting the evolving nature of collaboration and technological progress in the field.
