ABSTRACT Often neutrophils are characterized by their effector functions. There are many articles characterizing the activity of these cells under various physiological conditions. Their beneficial and detrimental activity play a role in all tissue types. This ability to adapt and react to various stimuli suggests an intracellular uniqueness that enables these cells to adapt quickly to cues and respond accordingly. In this review, we will summarize the most common intracellular pathways that are involved in neutrophil ROS production, migration, degranulation, and NETosis.
