ABSTRACT Recurrence of subacute thyroiditis has been known to be rare. In particular, there have been only limited case reports of late recurrence over 20 years after a complete recovery. We describe a case of 61-year-old female patient who had late recurrence of subacute thyroiditis. Our case is worthy publishing in respect that the serum levels of TSH, and either free triiodo- thyronine (FT3) or free thyroxine (FT4) were within normal range against typical symptoms and signs suggestive of hyperthyroid phase, and the patient developed the second episode of subacute thyroiditis over 22 years after a complete recovery.
