ABSTRACT Enaminones, specifically enamines formed by the reaction of a β-dicarbonyl compound and an amine, remain a key intermediate for a number of synthetic procedures. We have extensively studied this entity in our laboratories and have shown that they possess sensitive and specific anticonvulsant activity in animal models. In addition, further research in other laboratories has provided further impetus to the therapeutic potential of this pharmacophore. A summary of these data and our further approach to this field will be provided.
