ABSTRACT The synthesis, photophysical properties and phototoxicity of N-alkylsubstituted zinc (II) phthalocyaninates were evaluated as potential agents for photodynamic therapy. Fluorescence, triplet and singlet oxygen quantum yields were measured and photophysical characterization of the triplet state was performed for these dyes. These parameters were calculated based on aggregation results as well as with phthalocyaninate incorporation into microheterogeneous and hydrosoluble media.
