ABSTRACT

We have developed high performance polymer-bound metal complex catalysts for the chemoselective reduction of organic compounds with various hydrogen sources such as H2O, H2 and HCO2H. In this article, the catalyst design of the polymeric supports for the chemoselective reduction of carbonyl compounds catalyzed by rhodium carbonyl clusters was described. The polymer-bound rhodium cluster complexes were reusable catalysts for the above reductions without loss of the activities, which were considered to be the environmentally-friendly catalysts. Further, the novel materials, dendrimers were used as multidentate ligands to prepare the polymeric metal complex catalysts and the specific features of the dendrimer-bound Pd complexes were discussed.
