ABSTRACT This article describes recent progress in the research on structures and chemical properties of alkynylcopper(I) complexes. Alkynyl group tends to coordinate to Cu(I) centers in a μ-η1, η1-or μ- η1 , η2- bridging fashion, while both bridging and non- bridging coordination are commonly observed in alkynyl complexes of group 8-10 metals. Various multinuclear complexes containing the bridging alkynyl-copper bonds were prepared and characterized by X-ray crystallography. The alkynyl group bonded to the Cu(I) center easily reacts with halogeno complexes of group 8-10 metals to form new alkynyl complexes of these metals or mixed metal alkynyl complexes.
