ABSTRACT The recent development of catalytic synthesis of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) has enabled the production of large amounts of such novel nanostructured carbon materials readily. This makes it possible to use them as novel support or promoter of catalysts. This article will briefly review some recent progress in applied research of MWCNTs as new potential carbon support media or promoter in heterogeneous catalysis by supported or promoted active components, including metals and/or their oxides, complexes and sulfides, with the emphasis on the study and development of MWCNT supported and/or promoted catalysts related to adsorption/ activation and spillover of hydrogen based on recent work carried out in our laboratory.
