ABSTRACT Deposition of biomolecules at solid surfaces is governed by inter- and intramolecular forces and can be potentially useful for design of biosensors, microarrays, immunoassays and drug carriers. This is an overview on characterization of assemblies formed by lipids, proteins, DNA, oligonucleotides and polysaccharides on model solid surfaces such as latex, silica, silicon wafers, self-assembled monolayers, metals, and polymeric surfaces.
