ABSTRACT

The supramolecular chemistry at interface has been one of active field in supramolecular science. On one hand, molecules at interface were in a confined state, which could result in the formation of molecular assemblies with tailored shape and structure. On the other hand, it was convenient to characterize the structure and to facilitate signal conversion by using the advanced surface and interface methods.

Dendrimers are a new class of appealing macromolecules with controllable molecular weight, topology, size and surface functionality. Due to their large size and globe shape, dendrimer and hyperbranched polymer are attractive building blocks for the interfacial assembly. The field of interfacial assembly of dendrimer is currently in a rapid growth in recent years. Assembly of starburst dendrimer at interface has been applied to variety of fields, including the surface modification of nanoparticles, surface nano-patterning, smart sensors, shape controlling of dendrimer monolayer at gas-liquid/ liquid-solid interface, etc. The possibility to control the surface structure by interfacial assembly of dendrimer could open up a novel opportunity in nanotechnology.
