ABSTRACT

One characteristic feature of the protozoa of the Trypanosomatidae family is the presence of a layer of microtubules localized below the plasma membrane designated sub-pellicular microtubules. Here we review the available information, from various electron microscopy techniques, concerning the structural organization of these microtubules. In addition, the biochemistry of these micro-tubules and associated proteins is discussed.
