The influence of the physicochemical parameters and molecular substructures accounting for the retention behavior of various solutes on non silica-based metal oxide and modified metal oxide stationary phases is reviewed. The advantages and disadvantages of the use of multivariate mathematical-statistical methods for the elucidation of the relationship between molecular characteristics and retention parameters are discussed in detail.
