ABSTRACT This paper presents an overview of electrochemistry of some rare metals in molten salts. Firstly, the electrochemical behaviors of rare metals, such as Ti, Zr and Hf, are discussed briefly in molten salts varied with the composition of the solvent. Secondly, the crystal orientation, morphology and corrosion resistances of the coherent titanium films electrodeposited onto 304 stainless steel from molten salts, are characterized in detail under various electrodeposition conditions. Finally, it is introduced that hydrogen-absorbing materials, such as La-Ni alloy, are synthesized onto Ni substrate electrochemically from molten salts containing Lanthanum Chloride.
