ABSTRACT

The authors investigated the occurrence of fungi and fungus- like (straminipilous) organisms growing on all developmental forms (eggs deposits, larvae, pupae, mature specimens) of black flies (Simulium ornatum) in river Czarna Hańcza. Fourty six aquatic fungus species were found on all forms of black flies. Most fungus species were found to grow on the mature form (30) and the fewest on the egg deposits (12). Such fungi as Coelomycidium ephemerae, C. simuli, Harpella melusinae, Penella grassei, P. hovassi, Smittium simulii and Stipella vigilans appeared to be new in Polish hydromycology.
