ABSTRACT This review article summarizes our recent experimental studies on TiO2 photocatalytic reduction of disulfides to thiols by H2O with particular emphasis placed on the effect of loading Ag clusters. Also, the results of quantum chemical calculation are presented, providing detailed information on the photocatalytic reaction mechanism. This approach employed in the present study would be effective also in the study of thermal catalysis of Ag, of which wide potential has been revealed. Finally, we explain the idea of “Reasonable Delivery Photocatalytic Reaction System (RDPRS)” for achieving highly effective photocatalytic reactions and describe its prospect for the future.
