ABSTRACT We prepared various supports that were used to deposit Pt with a view to obtaining catalysts that were characterized by using different instrumental techniques including nitrogen adsorption to determine textural properties, hydrogen chemisorption to estimate metal dispersion and thermal programmed reduction (TPR) to study the interaction between the metal and support. The influence of the support on the dehydrogenation of cyclohexane and methylcyclohexane to benzene and toluene, respectively, was also examined.
