ABSTRACT This paper presents a review and a contribution concerning the fully developed laminar flow for a Newtonian single phased fluid in forced convection, in ducts with different configurations of sinusoidal cross section. The results of various authors are compared with the solution to the momentum equation, obtained through a co-ordinate transformation that maps the sinusoidal cross section into the interior of a square. The 2-D velocity distribution is determined, and consequently, the shear stresses, the isothermal friction factor, the momentum flux and kinetic energy correction factors, the incremental pressure drop number, and the entry length are obtained. These results give a more complete and accurate insight for laminar flow in corrugated single and double-sine shaped ducts.
