The present review summarises literature data on catalyst deactivation in three-phase heterogenous catalytic reaction  performed in batch and continous reactors. It is demonstrated that deactivation phenomenon plays an important role as exemplified for several reactions with the main focus on catalytic hydrogenation. Approaches  to modelling of deactivation kinetics  are discussed.
