An attempt to systematize the buffer index topic of a mixture of two monoprotic acids is intended in this paper. Basic equations are derived as a function of dimensionless parameters which allow simple expressions to be obtained, and which may be easily differentiated. Methods to obtain the roots of the derivative functions are also devised and discussed. Computations have been carried out with the aid of a spreadsheet and results are well illustrated with graphical representations.
