ABSTRACT The investigational history and recent studies on several topics involving ectopic pregnancy after assisted reproductive technology are reviewed. The ectopic pregnancy rate after in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer, as well as types of localization are analyzed based on literature sources. Potential risk factors for ectopic pregnancy after in vitro fertilization are reviewed, analyzing non-specific factors following natural conception and pregnancies after assisted reproductive technology. Specific ectopic pregnancy risk factors traceable to the outcomes of specific techniques used in assisted reproductive technology are also reviewed.
