ABSTRACT The present report summaries the results of studies conducted on the use of drag reducing polymers (d.r.p) to inhibit the diffusion controlled corrosion of chemical engineering equipments which operate under turbulent flow such as pipelines, agitated vessels, chemical reactors, etc. The report discusses the role of surface geometry, type of polymer, solution composition and relative velocity between the metal and the moving fluid on the inhibition efficiency. The report discusses also the limitations of applying d.r.p in industry and the possibility of overcoming these limitations.
