ABSTRACT

By means of columnar (CC), thin-layer (TLC) and high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), the presence of carotenoids in galls produced by Rhodites rosae on Rosa canina, in rose leaves and fruit was studied. 25 carotenoids were identified. There are qualitative and quantitative differences in the carotenoid contents of the galls, leaves and fruit of rose. β-Carotene were predominant in the leaves and fruit of rose, canthaxanthin in galls.
