ABSTRACT The principal scope of this review is that of updating the body of information on melt growth of III-V compounds. The methods currently employed for the growth of large III-V crystals are reported and discussed, trying to highlight the differences with the methods used in the past. The advances in material preparation due to the adoption of modified equipments and/or new growth parameters will be emphasized. Furthermore, some information about the melt growth of bulk ternary crystals is included. Finally, we discuss the post-growth thermal treatments which are becoming more and more important owing to their capability of drastically changing the physical properties of the as-grown III-V crystals.
