ABSTRACT

Recent XPS investigations on organometallic compounds (nitrosoarene and cyanate complexes of transition metals) performed in the authors’ lab are reviewed. The importance of quantities obtained by combination of peak kinetic energies of different signals in the same sample (like Auger parameter) in structurally classifying compounds is stressed. Theoretical interpretation of the mentioned quantities in term of initial and final state effects is attempted in each case.
