ABSTRACT

A detailed account of the genesis, development and applications of both intrinsic and external π-orbital localization procedures which rely only on molecular topology and which are therefore adequate for the discussion of π-electron delocalization in organic compounds at the Hückel level is presented. Localized molecular orbitals obtained by application of these procedures are referred to as Topological Localized Molecular Orbitals.
