ABSTRACT Imino sulfonate compounds which can form sulfonic acids upon UV irradiation were synthesized and the mechanism for the photolysis was evaluated. Imino sulfonates are non-ionin photoacid generators and they are soluble in common organic solvents. The photoinduced crosslinking of poly(glycidyl methacrylate) (PGMA) using imino sulfonates was studied. The photoinduced acid-catalyzed thermal removal of tert-butoxycarbonyl (t-BOC) units in poly(4-tert-butoxycarbonyloxystyrene) (PBOS) in film was also studied.
