ABSTRACT Diastereoselective reactions using N,N’-bis((S)-1-phenylethyl)-carbodiimide were utilized for synthesis of methyl bicyclo[2.2.1]-hept-5-ene-2-carboxylate, methyl β-alkyl- β-hydroxypropionates, 2-(alkylamino)bicyclo[2.2.1]heptane-2-carboxylic acid, β-alkyl- β-chloro-propanoylureas, and α-bromoacyl- ureas. Effective removal of the chiral auxiliary gave the corresponding enantiomerically pure compounds. The chiral source, the recovered urea, can be recycled.
