A review is presented dealing with the voltammetric behaviour of Pt single crystal electrodes, basal and stepped surfaces, in alkaline media at pH higher than 9. This behaviour is strongly dependent on the surface structure of the electrode and as happens in acidic media, controversial opinions exist about the ascription of the voltammetric peaks to different processes, specially with reference to Pt(111) surface.
