ABSTRACT

The study of the surface conductivity changes of metallic electrodes is reviewed considering both theoretical and experimental aspects. The theoretical predictions of conductivity changes due to size and field effects are compared with the experimental results in electrochemical systems. The application of this technique to the study of adsorption phenomena including ions, organic compounds and electrosorption process is considered. Within the latter, hydrogen, oxygen and upd adsorption is reviewed.
